Welcome to the Compodcast. Compost Queen, Kate Saffin, has been living on a narrowboat for 17 years & no longer concerns herself with the Pumpout vs Cassette debate. Instead, for the past 3 years she's been using a pair of buckets.
An eye-popping discussion which will even show you the connection between human waste & Brexit.
The creaking noise early on disappears after a few minutes. Apologies for the distraction.
More info on composting can be found at:

Kate can also be seen in her solo show (not about composting) - "Idle Women of the Wartime Waterways." Details at the link below:

John Privett, co-owner of Book Barge 'Word on the Water' is an Anarchist. In this lively & in depth episode, we discuss what that means, how he became one and whether living on the waterways supports or conflicts with the principles of Anarchy.
We explore the serious issues like ....
Do we need RULES on the canal & should we tolerate or punish those who
do not follow them?
Should Kings Cross become a privatised floating market?
And the even more serious issues like....
Which celebrities have visited 'Word on the Water' & what books did they buy?
The occasional background growl belongs to 'Star', John's anarchic hound dog.
A fascinating talk with a unique & passionate boater.
As Martyn Whitwell sits in his London flat, elsewhere, his beloved narrowboat sits on the cut. He keeps a close eye on it though - several times a day - via an online monitoring system that he's designed & customised himself.
Like most boaters, his waterways activities slow down in the winter but, once the weather turns in his favour, Martyn covers more boating miles in a week than many manage in a year.
As well as discussing his remote online monitoring system, we also talk about his narrowboating adventures on tidal waters.
Paul Curtis retired and bought his first boat last year - the fulfilment of a lifelong dream. It was bound to be perfect if it was new so he had a narrowboat built from scratch. What could go wrong? Here's a cautionary tale for anyone considering 'living the dream.' It's a fascinating conversation and it gets deep. This honest and human story goes far beyond the world of boating but, despite the horrors, it's an inspiring one too.
'The Angry Boater' live show will be at The George Inn, 261 High Street, Berkhamsted on Saturday, August 26th from 8 pm to 10 pm. Almost sold out. EXTRA DATE ADDED - SAT SEPT 16TH.
