Angry Boater: Joel Sanders

If you could turn your back on everything you knew to follow a dream, would you? Joel Sanders used to perform comedy in Vegas but, since 2010, he's living on a canal boat, floating around the UK's waterways. His podcast explores the quirky and often harsh realities of life afloat. You can see 'Angry Boater' live at 'Chilibomb' on Curtain Rd, Liverpool Street on Sunday September 19th - his first show in over a year. All ticket revenue from will be donated to The Michael Sobell Hospice. http://www.angryboater.com

The number of chaplains on the UK's waterways is increasing. Midlands based chaplain, Richard Alford, has been working with boaters in difficulty for a few years and met up in Hemel Hempstead to talk about his work. During the interview he invited me to accept Christ into my life and, even though I declined, we survived the awkwardness and stayed friends. Young newlywed boaters, Ed & Carli Fish have been boating for 3 years. We were double moored together in East London and bumped into each other again on the Grand Union this week. In this fun discussion, we talk about  the etiquette of double mooring and what it's like to be newbies living afloat in our overcrowded metropolis. You can read more about their experiences at Carli's superb boating blog. https://anarrowescape.wordpress.com/
