Angry Boater: Joel Sanders

If you could turn your back on everything you knew to follow a dream, would you? Joel Sanders used to perform comedy in Vegas but, since 2010, he's living on a canal boat, floating around the UK's waterways. His podcast explores the quirky and often harsh realities of life afloat. You can see 'Angry Boater' live at 'Chilibomb' on Curtain Rd, Liverpool Street on Sunday September 19th - his first show in over a year. All ticket revenue from will be donated to The Michael Sobell Hospice. http://www.angryboater.com

'Angry Boater' 3 x live shows at Limehouse Cruising Association: Wed April 24th, Wed, May 29th & Wed, June 19th. 7 pm to 9 pm.

Recently, a boater in Little Venice refused to hold a rope for a single-handed, double-moored fellow boater on the grounds that, "I never let people moor against my boat! If you  followed my example, you wouldn't need my help." Later that day, having moved off unassisted, Mike Coll ended up moored alongside me in Wesbourne Park .... so we recorded this podcast about anti social behaviour on the canals.

Many of you will recall Highlander catching fire and sinking in April 2018. Luckily, Benjamin Mercer was not on board at the time. 12 months on, he has rebuilt his life and is enjoying life back on London's waterways. We met up in Little Venice where he described what happened to him and the ramifications.

Benjamin Mercer is a writer who has been published in Brexit Central, Counterfire & The Salisbury Review. You can read some of his work at
